Who am I?
My name is Siming. I am a Political Science student living in England. I run this blog to practice my thinking and writing craft. I believe writing is the best form of self-medication. For more about me, please click here.
Quotes & Commentary
From 2018, I started to use Goodreads as a tool to track my reading habits, as I could sometimes get distracted by trivialities and hence ended up reading less coherently and remembering little. To learn from some of the best readers on the website, I started to write commentary about the quotes I like, briefly explaining what I think they mean, why I like them, and why I believe they are valuable, to practice the craft. These can be passages that are particularly pungent, sentences with a memorable turn of phrase, or insights that, for whatever reason, resonated with me. My goal is to write one of these each week.
Essays
I write essays to self-reflect. I contemplate, for too long and on too many things. One day, whilst I was passionately rambling on my thoughts to my dad, he suggested I should start writing down my musings; therefore good ones will not slip away. I think that was a brilliant idea. You can find my essays here.
Book Reviews
I have been urging myself to write book reviews. If I am reading a book, I am thinking about something. As dad’s saying goes, if there is thinking, there should be writing. Please find my book reviews here.
Politics
Other times, I write about political affairs and political theory. Click here for more.
